Story
On Friday 8th November, a brave group of Mayfield girls are going to spend the night outside, in the chapel garden, to raise awareness and funds for the work of the Cardinal Hume Centre in combatting homelessness.
Even more impressive, the girls have agreed to give up their mobile phones for the night, and eat only what is left over from the evening meal in the school dining room.
Every penny counts! Your donation means vulnerable young people, children and their families can get help to overcome the rising cost of living, homelessness and poverty. Thank you for believing each person matters.
In Westminster alone, there are 3,600 children officially considered as homeless - living in temporary, often overcrowded 'B&B' accommodation. To put this in context, that's more than 15 times all the rough sleepers in Westminster and more than the entire street homeless across England (3000).
We know that the roots of teenage and adult homelessness are rooted in childhood poverty. Our hostel offers a safe place for 50 young people, aged 16-25, who live with us for over a year while they rebuild their lives. Unfortunately, the Cardinal Hume Centre can’t build houses or always put food on every table for all - but we can offer skilled support, dignity, and hope to over 1300 people in the coming year. Thank you for supporting us in that mission.
