Former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers footballer Stephen Darby and close friend and British Forces Veteran Chris Rimmer have partnered together to launch the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Stephen and Chris both have Motor Neurone Disease and have created a Foundation to create awareness of MND, to fund and assist research into the illness with the quest of finding a cure for the illness, to raise funds and offer grants to those with MND, as well as creating a network to help provide information and emotional support network for those diagnosed with the disease.

Story

Hi everyone,

I am running the Ipswich Half Marathon in aid of the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

This cause is incredibly close to my heart. Working at Planet Blue for Ipswich Town FC, I see every day how much the club and the fans rally behind our legend Marcus Stewart and the fight against Motor Neurone Disease. But my connection to this devastating disease goes back even further: six years ago, I tragically lost my uncle to MND.

Watching someone you love battle MND is heartbreaking, and there is still no cure. By taking on these 13.1 miles, I want to play my part in changing that.

Every single pound raised goes directly toward vital biomedical research to find a cure, raising awareness, and providing critical support grants to individuals and families who are fighting this disease right now.

Any donation, big or small, means the world to me and will keep me pushing all the way to the finish line at Portman Road. Thank you so much for your support! 💙
