Running for Ella – Supporting GBSS
We are running a half marathon in memory of our lovely daughter and baby sister, Ella, who we very sadly lost, aged just 18 days, when Group B Strep (GBS) infection caused deadly meningitis. GBS is a preventable infection, yet so many families, like ours, don’t know about it until it’s too late.
A simple private test during pregnancy can detect if a mother is carrying GBS, allowing for antibiotics during labour to prevent passing the infection to the baby. But routine testing isn’t offered in the UK, and awareness remains low.
By taking on this challenge, we want to honour Ella’s short but precious life and raise much needed awareness about GBS and the importance of testing, so other families don’t have to experience the heartbreak we did. Every donation will support Group B Strep Support (GBSS) in their work to educate, advocate, and prevent more tragedies.
Please support us in making a difference.
Every contribution means the world to us. Thank you so much for your support.
