Mia is a Blood Cancer Survivor – her story;
Every step we take is inspired by the journey of those who have battled blood cancer.
Mia was diagnosed with Infantile Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the age of seven months in 2017. She then underwent a three year treatment journey which included four rounds of chemotherapy, lumber punctures, bone marrow extractions and over twenty blood transfusions.
We were given a 50% survival rate for her to reach the age of five. Now she emerges as a nine year old and is my walking miracle. She is a happy and beautiful girl with all the energy and enthusiasm a child her age should have. Her story exemplifies the importance of continued research and development for better treatments that specifically target childhood cancers.
We shall be walking for all the children who are still fighting their battle with blood cancer and remembering those who lost their battle, some who were in the same ward as Mia. We shall be walking with hope; a hope to shine a light for families like ours that the future is bright and our children have everything to live for.
Who can join? – EVERYONE
Please bring children, friends, loved ones and dogs that enjoy a walk with you. It will last around 45-60 minutes and you can join us for the whole walk or just part of it if that is all you can manage. We would just love to have you.
It will be held all outdoors around Tettenhall Green. Meeting spot will be Tettenhall Pool, or just look out for lanterns and lights. Parking is available in and around the park.
Please wrap up warm as it maybe chilly and if its been raining there maybe muddy spots across the green, so maybe some wellies too.
You can purchase Blood Cancer UK T-Shirts or Hoodies at Blood Cancer UK – Blood Cancer UK Shop
If Tettenhall Green, Wolverhampton, is too far, you can do your own walk nearer to your home, please send us pics though so we can build our gallery of supporters! 😊
Looking forward to seeing you.
