Story
A few months ago, after taking part in various volunteering projects in London, I decided I wanted to go abroad to volunteer, push myself out of my comfort zone, and feel like I was making a bigger difference. I was recommended Collective Aid by a friend’s mum, and that recommendation led me to spend a month volunteering in Lesvos, Greece — an experience that has profoundly changed me.
During my time there, I met some of the kindest, most passionate, and most dedicated people I have ever known. The volunteers and team members work tirelessly to support people seeking safety and a better future, treating everyone with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Collective Aid provides essential support to displaced people and refugees by helping to meet basic needs that many of us take for granted. Their work includes providing access to clothing, hygiene products, and other essential items, while creating a space where people are treated with care and dignity. They collect, sort, and distribute vital supplies to people who often arrive with very little or nothing, helping to ensure that individuals and families have access to basic necessities that everyone deserves.
What struck me most during my time in Lesvos was the warmth and openness of the people I met. Despite the difficult circumstances many had experienced, their kindness and compassion left a lasting impression on me. Through spending time with people and hearing about their experiences, I learned that many did not have access to basic hygiene products and only had the clothes they were wearing. These experiences, alongside the work I carried out, gave me a much deeper understanding of how essential Collective Aid’s work is and the difference it makes every day.
Meeting the people behind this organisation, as well as the people they support, left a lasting impression on me. I want to continue supporting the organisation’s incredible work and help ensure that they can keep providing these vital services to people who need them.
Every donation, no matter the size, can make a real difference. **All money raised through this fundraiser will go directly towards supporting Collective Aid’s Greece project**, helping them continue to provide essential supplies and support to displaced people and refugees in Lesvos.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for supporting this cause. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated and will help support the vital work being carried out in Greece.
