Story
Who are Micah?
Micah Liverpool is a social justice charity. It has long established projects helping people experiencing food poverty and challenges gaining employment. In June 2023, Micah established a partnership with national charity Zarach, delivering beds to children without a bed to sleep on.
Micah has a small staff team of 4, with a much larger team of 30 volunteers. Micah sees its partnership with others, individuals and organisations as crucial. We couldn’t do what we do without others. Micah has a steady stream of faithful donors and supporters who give food, finances and time.
Now it’s our turn! We think it’s about time that we take on a challenge for Micah.
The staff team really believe in what we do. We hold dear Micah’s principles of justice, fairness and wellbeing. Whilst we know that we are helping a lot of people each year, we know that true social justice will see less people experiencing poverty, with less inequality in the world. Any funds raised will be unrestricted which will help us to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly (Micah 6:8)
Why are we doing the abseil?
Cathy: “It’s the stories of people that stay with me and keep me motivated. The scale of inequality in the UK really bothers me and we see the impact of this at Micah. I’m not exactly frightened of the abseil, but it’s not something I’d be at the front of the queue for either! I can climb up things, but getting down is a bit more challenging! I shall hold in my heart the conversations I’ve had with individuals experiencing unfairness and injustice as I lower myself off the Cathedral. I’ll look across (not down!) and symbolically look for a new horizon ... for a fairer, more just and kinder world.”
Jayne: “Since working with Micah, I have got to know so many people with so many different stories of being trapped in unfair and unjust situations. I am doing the abseil to play a small part in raising donations but, much more importantly in raising awareness of the ongoing challenges which so many people face. I would love you all to stand with us in this important cause.” Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
