Michael's fundraiser for The Haven Kilmacolm

Michael Bassford is raising money for The Haven Kilmacolm

John Muir way 50km ultramarathon

The Haven provides accommodation with Housing Support to men from the age of 17 who are involved with drug and alcohol abuse. We offer a structured programme based on Christian principles which is designed to help the residents acquire the life skills necessary for future independent living free from their addictions.

Story

In 2023, after navigating a challenging chapter in my life, I found my way to The Haven Kilmacolm to be closer to my 6-year-old daughter. The Haven provided me with unwavering support during this incredibly difficult season. Today, I am grateful to have my daughter living with me, and I feel privileged to serve as a staff member, helping men who have faced similar struggles. It brings me immense joy to witness these men being reunited with their families, especially their children.

However, many of the men in our program face financial challenges that can hinder their ability to create special moments with their children. That’s why I am participating in the John Muir Way 50km ultramarathon—to raise funds for our resident fund at The Haven. This fund will enable these fathers to take their children out for a day of fun or purchase a birthday present that will bring smiles and joy.

The Haven is truly an amazing place that transforms lives, and your support can make a significant difference. I kindly ask for your generosity in donating to this cause. Together, we can help these fathers build lasting memories with their children and continue the cycle of healing and hope.
