One in two of us will receive a cancer diagnosis within our lifetimes. Many families lose loved ones to cancer. By supporting cancer research at Manchester, you are helping to bring us closer to a cure that will be lifechanging for us all.

Story

This year, I have signed up to run the Anglesey Trail Half Marathon on 9 November 2025 - my first ever half marathon! I am not a natural runner so the training and the run itself are a real challenge.

As part of my training journey, I will be joining the University of Manchester’s Purplewave for the Manchester 10k on 18 May 2025, and supporting life-changing cancer research here in Manchester.

Manchester is already world leading in its cancer research. Everyday our amazing researchers make discoveries which have lifechanging impact world over. But for everything that’s already been achieved, there’s much more left to do. Cancer continues to tear families apart.

One in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetimes and the UK there is a cancer diagnosis every two minutes. Sadly, I have been touched in recent months by a cancer diagnosis in the family - Kate’s fantastic Uncle Chris - and two further diagnosis in good family friends.

That's why I'm taking on the Purplewave challenge, to ensure that The University of Manchester is at the forefront of these breakthroughs.

So please join me in supporting the brilliant people leading Manchester's life-changing research by sponsoring me today.

Thank you!
