Story
On the 25th April, I’m taking on a challenge that feels a little daunting.
Last April, I joined Wigan and Leigh’s sunrise trek up Snowdon. It was an incredible experience where I met some of the most resilient people I’ve ever known. But this year, I wanted to dig deeper.
This year’s event is Scafell Pike. But because I must be slightly unhinged, I’m doing it twice… I will be completing a lap of the mountain in time to meet the Wigan and Leigh hospice team at the bottom for their event, to go straight back up!
As many of you will know, this cause is deeply personal. My Mum was cared for by Wigan and Leigh Hospice in her final weeks. Having seen first-hand the level of compassion, dignity, and expert care they provide, I know that "amazing" doesn't even begin to cover what they do. They don't just care for the patient… they carry the whole family.
Here is the staggering truth: It costs £12,000 every single day to keep the hospice running. That money provides specialist beds, pain management, and that essential emotional support. Every penny I raise goes directly towards making sure the next family receives the same incredible care my Mum did.
I’m prepared to push myself to the extreme to assist in making sure this hospice can keep its doors open. If you can spare anything at all, the cost of a coffee or a meal out, it would mean the absolute world to me and the team at Wigan and Leigh.
Thank you in advance for the support and for helping me honour my Mum’s memory.
Love,
A dedicated son
