Royal Navy HQ SNI: Hadrian’s Wall Path Fundraiser for the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity

Walking the length of the Hadrian's Wall path 84 miles / 135km for RNRMC · 27 April 2025
This year, four of us from the Royal Navy in Scotland—Michael Ellison, Stuart Urwin, Matthew O’Brien, and George Wright—are taking on an incredible challenge: walking coast to coast along the historic Hadrian’s Wall Path.
Starting at Bowness-on-Solway in Cumbria, on the west coast, on Sunday, 27 April 2025, we’ll trek 84 miles over six days, following the remains of Hadrian’s Wall, before finishing at Wallsend, Newcastle, on the east coast, on Friday, 2 May 2025.
Built by the Romans nearly 2,000 years ago, Hadrian’s Wall once marked the northernmost frontier of the Roman Empire. Stretching from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a testament to history, endurance, and resilience—qualities that reflect our own challenge ahead.
We are doing this to raise vital funds for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), which provides lifelong support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families.
The journey will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to the sacrifices made by those the charity supports. Whether it’s helping families in need, supporting mental health initiatives, or aiding veterans as they transition to civilian life, RNRMC makes a real difference—and we want to help them continue their amazing work.
As men of a certain age, we know this challenge will be painful—but incredibly worthwhile!
We would be incredibly grateful for any donation, big or small. Every pound raised will go directly to supporting those who serve, or have served, in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
Our journey will be documented daily on the Royal Navy in Scotland X page (@RNinScotland), so be sure to follow along!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, secure, and ensures all funds go directly to the charity.
Thank you for your support!
