Story
Hello all. It has been a while, but I've signed up for a few events to raise some money for the good folks at Spinal Research UK. First the Brighton Marathon, then the MK festival of running, and finally the MK marathon.
As you know, Lucy had a spinal cord injury 12 years ago. The brilliant teams at Annecy and Stoke Mandeville looked after her beautifully and helped her adapt to the new normal, and she has been absolutely smashing it ever since, being not only a great life companion, but also a great mum.
Last time, when my brother and I tackled the Ridgeway together, you all dug deep and helped us raise almost £4,000! I am afraid I'm going to call on you wonderful people once more — anything you can spare will go directly to Spinal Research, funding the science that could one day help others who have an accident like Lucy.
I want to be clear, I am older than last time. and slower, but I will get round all three, even if I have to crawl.
Now the bit about spinal research UK:
Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. It can happen to anyone at any time, changing lives instantly.
When the spinal cord is injured it affects far more than the ability to walk. Paralysis impacts movement, sensation, continence, breathing, and much more.
At Spinal Research, the vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.
Together, we can cure paralysis.
