Michael's fundraiser for Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team

Michael Fahy is raising money for Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team

Montane Summer Spine Challenger South · 13 June 2026

A Mountain Rescue Team which is an integral part of the regional and national search and rescue service - providing primary cover in an area of approximately 350 square miles across East Lancashire and parts of Greater Manchester. The Team is made up entirely of volunteers members available 24/7.

Story

As a full team member of Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue, I know how much effort goes in to fundraising just to keep the team operational.

Saving lives 24/7, 365 days a year, RPMRT are a voluntary organisation of highly skilled rescue operatives, sparing their time to ensure people get help when they need it the most.

I am going to challenge myself like never before and do the Montane Summer Spine Challenger South, 108 miles along the Pennine Way with a cut off of 60 hours.

I have wanted to do an Ultra for many years, the Spine in particular, but something has always gotten in the way. I have been hampered with injury in recent years, I kind of feel that it is now or never!

I can't promise that I will finish, but I can promise that I will start and give everything I can to complete under the 60 hours.

As an added bonus, if I hit my fundraising goal of £350 before my birthday on January 27th, I will grow a mullet and handlebar moustache and keep it until after the race.
