Story
Running for St Barnabas Hospice
In April, I will be running the London Marathon. While 26.2 miles and the months of training are a daunting task, my motivation comes from a place much closer to my heart. I am raising funds for St Barnabas Hospice, an organisation that became an amazing support for my mum and our family during the most difficult time of our lives.
Why St Barnabas Hospice?
In May 2023, my mum was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and from day one, St Barnabas Hospice helped her in so many different ways.
Their help wasn't just clinical, it was about support, practicalities and ultimately someone to turn too, when things were hard. They ensured that my Mum’s quality of life was prioritised, allowing her to remain as independent as possible as things started to get hard. The kindness and expertise they extended to her, and to us as a family, is something we can never truly repay.
The Challenge
I’ve set a goal to raise £3,000 to help ensure that other families in the local community receive the same incredible level of care that we did. Every penny raised goes directly toward their efforts to provide end-of-life care and support for patients and their loved ones.
Running the London Marathon is my way of giving back. Every mile I run in April and the months of training leading up to it, will be fuelled by the memory of my mum’s strength and the gratitude I feel for the team at St Barnabas.
How You Can Help
Any contribution you can make toward this total is hugely appreciated, and if you’re unable to donate, a simple share of this page goes a long way in helping me reach the finish line.
Thank you for supporting me, remembering my mum, and helping St Barnabas Hospice continue their vital work.
Michael
