Norrie Disease is an incurable, ultra rare genetic condition causing mainly boys to be born blind or with severe visual impairment; many also develop progressive hearing loss during adolescence. NDF provides support to families affected by Norrie disease and funds novel research into the condition

Story

Beginning on the 26th August I am planning on completing the three peaks challenge solo.

I am raising money for the Norrie disease foundation.

My 26 year old son Rhys has Norrie disease,is totally blind and has a degenerative hearing impairment.

The vital research being undertaken by the NDF could prevent Rhys and many other Norrie adults and children from losing their hearing completely.

Lack of funding is holding up the research,

Rhys is currently studying for a masters degree in interpreting having gained a degree in Spanish and Latin American studies.

Rhys is working towards a career in medical interpreting,

After all his hard work this may not be possible if his hearing gets any worse,

I’m giving myself 5 days but hoping to complete the challenge in 3.

I will be trekking up

Benn Nevis in Scotland

Scafell Pike in the Lake District

Mount snowdon in Wales

The challenge will involve

More than 23 miles of walking ascending over 10,000ft and around 462 miles of driving.

Please give what you can to help encourage me to complete this challenge.

Any donations however big or small will be greatly appreciated.
