The House Poet’s 5 Day Hike and Wing Walk Fundraising for Cure Usher Syndrome

5 Day Hike from Leeds to Wakefield to Barnsley to Penistone to Glossop to Stockport to Manchester followed by a Wing Walk on board a plane ✈️ · 21 July 2025
🌟🚶♂️ Exciting Announcement! 🚀🎶 Hey everyone! I'm thrilled to share that I’m embarking on an incredible journey to raise awareness and funds for the Cure Usher Foundation! From July 21st to July 25th, I’ll be hiking the stunning Trans Pennine Trail from Leeds to Manchester, with breathtaking views and challenges along the way, followed by an exhilarating wing walk on July 27th! 🏞️✈️
As the resident DJ for the Cure Usher Ball, I’ve learned about Usher syndrome and the challenges faced by those diagnosed. Their stories and the urgent need for a cure have inspired me to take on this challenge and make a difference!
Here's the breakdown of my hike:
- **Day 1 (Mon, July 21)**: Starting in Leeds, I’ll trek through picturesque landscapes, passing through Wakefield and soaking in the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
- **Day 2**: I’ll journey from Wakefield to Barnsley, enjoying the views and the rich heritage of this wonderful region.
- **Day 3**: The adventure continues as I hike from Barnsley to Penistone, where I’ll tackle some of the trail’s stunning elevations, including peaks reaching up to 1,450ft!
- **Day 4**: I’ll make my way from Penistone to Glossop, traversing some of the highest peaks in the Pennines. This section of the trail will challenge me with stunning views and the chance to experience breathtaking beauty. From rugged hills to rolling valleys, I’ll be surrounded by nature at its finest. The fresh air and stunning vistas will keep me motivated as I push myself further.
- **Day 5**: Finally, I’ll complete the hike from Glossop to Stockport and then on to Manchester, celebrating both my journey and our shared cause!
After conquering these trails, I'll take my adventure to new heights with a thrilling **wing walk** on July 27th! For those who may not know, a wing walk involves climbing aboard a plane's wing while it soars high in the sky. I'll be strapped in front experiencing an adrenaline rush as I fly above beautiful landscapes—an exhilarating way to raise awareness for Cure Usher!
I’m aiming to raise a target of **£10,000** to support this vital cause! You can help make this possible by donating a minimum of **£10**, or more if you can! Every contribution counts; together we can bring hope to those in need. Thank you for your support! 🙌❤️ #CureUsher #TrailHike #WingWalk #Fundraising #Awareness #TogetherForACure #TransPennineTrail
