Michael and Alan's fundraiser for Finn's Future

Michael Holroyd is raising money for Just4Children

Richmond Marathon 2025 · 18 May 2025

Just4Children are fundraising for Finn to provide physical therapy and equipment to keep him healthy and active as he grows.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page! On the 18th of May this year, we will be running the Richmond Marathon. But this won't be enough for Al, who will also run the Edinburgh Marathon the following week! We will both be fundraising for Finn!

Finn is 13 and from Bristol. He has cerebral palsy. He is very adventurous and cheerful - he loves to laugh, and his giggle is highly infectious! Whilst at University, I (Michael) had the pleasure of helping to look after Finn during my final year - it was brilliant to help Finn go on his adventures (you can see some photos of us having a jam on the guitar above)!

Finn’s adventurous activity and love of life are threatened by the physical degeneration that comes with unmanaged growth in teenage years. To mitigate this, Finn needs specialist equipment and therapies, which I am keen to support through this fundraising campaign.

Finn is incredibly enthusiastic about trikes and cycling! He loves riding his trike independently, really taking on the challenge of pedalling and steering, both of which require great determination and perseverance, which he finds incredibly rewarding!

He often tries really hard to convey the message that he wants to go on a ride. Either under his own power (as in the pictures), or in tag-along mode where the back part of the trike is attached via link to an adult bike and he gets towed along. Cycling is great physio for him, and if he is riding on his own it is a form of independent movement which is great for his self-confidence and sense of independence.

Unfortunately, he is unable to cycle at the moment as he has grown out of his specialist trike, which now needs replacing. I am fundraising to help Finn buy a new trike, so that he can continue to go on his cycling adventures and enjoy all the fun and benefits they bring!

We would be so grateful if you could donate to this campaign - thank you for any support you can offer!
