Story

Hi all,

I'm participating in the Clipper 2025-26 Round The World Yacht Race, while raising money for the charity UNICEF. I am doing leg 1, 2, and 3 sailing from Portsmouth UK to Fremantle Australia via Spain, Uruguay, and South Africa.

My race start is 31 August and I expect to end up in Australia before Christmas 2025, a race of nearly 15,000 nautical miles!

I am a happy team member of "Team Punta Del Este", sailing on a Clipper 70 boat.

I have no prior ocean race experience but have always dreamed about crossing the big oceans. I am especially looking forward to experience leg 3, "The roaring 40's" they call it, with high downwind boat speeds (+30 knots), big waves and adrenaline.

Here is a flavor of what I am aiming for : https://youtu.be/gUKOHXHgmU4

You can follow my race on: https://www.clipperroundtheworld.com/

I am also proud to be our teams charity fund raising co-ordinator, which means I am responsible for coordinating the fund raising efforts for our more than 50 international crew members, with 15 different nationalities.

Our team is well prepared and trained to sail safe and fast, with a clear winning attitude. Likewise we are committed to put significant effort into raising funds to UNICEF.

We are proud to be partnering with UNICEF and anything you can donate will be well received ❤️.

Many thanks

Michael

UNICEF has been both a Charity and Team Partner for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race since the 2015-16 edition and during this time has raised £1.6 million for children around the world.

UNICEF has 15,000 people working for children in more than 190 countries, responding to emergencies and building long-term resilience. We save children's lives with vaccines, clean water, and therapeutic food. We protect children from violence, exploitation, and abuse. We empower children through quality education. And we seek to create a safe and sustainable world where children can live, learn and grow.

Every pound you raise will make a difference to every child, every day, everywhere.

- A donation of £165 could buy a wheelchair for a child with limited mobility

- A donation of £275 could buy a midwifery kit containing all of the medicines, medical supplies and sterilisation equipment for a maternity ward to support the delivery of 50 babies
