Story
I have created this page because I will be taking to the skies and completing a wing walk! The twists, turns and dive from 500 ft will be a challenge, but nothing compared to the challenge of a terminal diagnosis that so many face each year.
On 3 August 2025, a few days after celebrating my 90th birthday, I'll be gearing up and preparing to take on a Wing Walk, all to help raise vital funds for Hospiscare!
It’s going to be a real aerial adventure, but it’s nothing compared to the challenge of a terminal diagnosis that so many face each year. Although I am now registered blind and can no longer do things I used to, I am always happy to help others – and if I can help make things a little easier for those facing one of life’s most difficult journeys, that’s what I’m going to do.
Over the years I have supported several charities, volunteering my time to make a difference. In fact, I spent over ten years volunteering at Exeter Foodbank serving clients from the Mint Methodist centre – when my failing eyesight prevented me from reading food labels, I continued volunteering by collecting donations from local supermarkets and transporting them to the distribution centre. But Hospiscare, in particular, means a great deal to me, as they cared for my dear brother Anthony ‘Tony’ Jordan, who passed away 6 years ago in the Exeter hospice. The compassionate end-of-life care they provided during such a difficult time was invaluable – and I know since Tony’s passing, Hospiscare have been a lifeline for so many others too.
That's why I am raising funds for local charity, Hospiscare, which provides support for terminally ill patients and their families across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. So that’s what this Wing Walk is all about. I’ve self-funded the cost of the Wing Walk, so any donations will help enable Hospiscare to be there for local people when they’re needed most.
Your donation, no matter how small, really will make a difference and your support would mean a lot to me. Thank you!
