Story

Many of you will know of my long time friend, Ged, who was diagnosed with MND just over five years ago.

His attitude to his dreadful disease has been an inspiration not just to me but to anyone who comes into contact with him. Always a smile and a laugh and looking on the bright side of life.

I have tried to do what I can to raise awareness of this, as yet, incurable illness over the last few years and have been supported by numerous people, even some that don’t like me 🤔

I’m hoping that I can ask again for your donations as I take on 100 miles on a bike.

Below is a post that Ged put on Facebook in November which says more than I ever could……….

“Today it is five years since me and MND were wedded together, that day started a long journey which has in parts been a rocky and difficult road, things have now settled down into a more gentle rhythm, it is more relaxed and I sit back and enjoy life as it swirls around me. The final destination thankfully remains hidden somewhere over the horizon.Unfortunately due to the nature of MND expectations are not high even though no one can foresee how long the journey will take.Five years and still going strong is quietly satisfying and does feel like a modest triumph. If possible it makes me more stoical and reinforces my belief that having a positive attitude, continuing to do and enjoy the things I have always done has kept me in a good place.I think I have said this before but it is true, I am very lucky. I can only do what I can do with the help of those around me. They allow me to to do the things I need to do, without their love and care my life would not be as contented.La vie est belle and is there to be enjoyed so that is what I do and will continue to do.If my life was a film I would probably call it, Carry on Regardless.”
