Nine years ago, my Nan passed away from Alzheimer's. My family and I witnessed how this horrific illness destroyed her memory, causing her to forget me, my mum, and my sister. The simplest things that we all take for granted were slowly taken from her as her brain decayed.

There is nothing you can do but be there to love and support them while they slowly decline. So many people suffer from this terrible illness, and it not only affects the individual but also significantly impacts their families.

I have decided I want to give back. I am participating in Maverick Races, where I will run 54 kilometers along the Jurassic Coast in Dorset to fundraise for Alzheimer's Research UK on the 19th of October.

Their mission is to revolutionize the way we treat, diagnose, and prevent dementia. But they will not stop there. With your support, they will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia.
