I am running the Paris Marathon for the first time in April 2025. Although it will be a huge physical challenge at 44 I wanted to show my support to such a wonderful charity that provides research and assistance to defeat meningitis and septicaemia. The effects of this disease are devastating and can lead to life changing conditions and in some cases even death. I first heard about this disease as a child when a fellow pupil at my school suddenly passed away following a short battle. Although it wasn't a close friend it was still such a shock for our community and I remember thinking how it could have been any of us. As a parent myself now I cannot even begin to imagine what that family must of gone through in losing their child so suddenly. To know that I can support such a wonderful charity that brings together people and expertise in research to defeat meningitis and septicaemia is a true honour. The vision is a world free from meningitis and septicaemia. A world where effective vaccinations can protect everyone. The fund raising target is £1,000 and this will go towards providing life-saving information and funding vital medical research.
