Story

🏃‍♂️ I'm Running the London Marathon for LOROS Hospice 💛

Hi! My name is Michael , and in April , I’ll be taking on one of the biggest challenges of my life — running the London Marathon — to raise money for a charity incredibly close to my heart: LOROS Hospice.

Why LOROS?

LOROS provides free, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients and their families across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. They offer not just medical care, but dignity, comfort, and peace at the most difficult times in life.

Whether it’s through pain management, emotional support, or simply being there with a kind word and a warm smile, the team at LOROS makes a world of difference.

I’ve seen first-hand the incredible impact LOROS has — In November l went to visit my best friends father Russ, the care he received and also the compassion from everyone who works there was so genuine, and they made Russ and the family feel so comfortable. I also lost my Grandad in 2024, everyone who knew him was grandad, a man who never seemed to be the 87 years he was! LOROS treated him with dignity, made him laugh when at times he felt embarrassed..they gave my niece who was extremely close with him matching bunnies so they always had a connection, they also provided her therapy to help with the loss…simply amazing! Their work is truly life-changing, and they rely heavily on donations to keep going.

The London Marathon

I got into the London Marathon via the ballot, extremely rare and I’m very fortunate to be able to do this. Running 26.2 miles will be no easy task (trust me — the training alone will be brutal!). But every blister, early morning run, and aching muscle is worth it if it helps raise money for this amazing cause.

This will be my very first marathon — I’m doing it not just for myself, but to get me over that line Ill be thinking of the best father in law in the world, Eric, my grandad John, Hayley, Russ and for every friend and family member that have gone through these horrible illnesses. And for every family who needs LOROS in their time of need.

How You Can Help

I’m aiming to raise £1000.00— every single pound will go directly to supporting LOROS’s vital work.

If you can donate, no matter how small, you’ll be helping provide care, comfort, and dignity to people when they need it most.

And if you can’t donate right now, sharing this page would mean the world to me too.

Thank you for reading, supporting, and believing in this cause. Let’s do something amazing together.
