"Time's gonna make me a man someday" - 2nd Edition Fundraiser

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2019 I published a book. It was a fan's homage to late 70s/early 80s band The Vapors ("Turning Japanese", "Waiting for the weekend") called "Time's gonna make me a man someday" (an adapted version of the opening line of the band's third single "News At Ten"). The book told my teenage story, growing up in the 70s through punk rock and all that it led to, interspersed with that of the band's, and then picked up again in 2016 when the band unexpectedly reformed. As it's now three years since it was published, and the band stubbornly refuse to slow down, this updated version brings the story up to date, is reprinted in limited edition large format hardback, with updated artwork, photo sections and a foreword by Brett "Buddy" Ascott, one of the foremost personalities to emerge during the late 70s music scene in the UK. All profits from the sale will be donated to Parkinson's UK, a charity whose cause and efforts are very close to me at a personal level, and to the band alike.

You can order the book at

If there are any left the books will also be available at gigs on the band's UK tour in early 2023.

Keep track of progress on this page, however please note you CANNOT order the book here. Please DO feel free however to make a general donation if you wish to Parkinsons UK via this page but, to reiterate, the book will be available only via the Internet link published above.
