Story

Caring For Life...

I would like to introduce you to Caring For Life, a Christian charity based in Leeds that has been ‘Sharing the Love of Jesus’ with vulnerable and at-risk adults in the Leeds area for 37 years..... and it's a charity dear to my heart where I work as PR Team Leader, and look after our relationships with charitable trusts. There are so many people in the world who feel they don’t fit in; people who have often suffered horrendous pain and trauma and who struggle with all kinds of issues: homelessness; issues stemming from childhood abuse; learning disabilities; mental health issues, and physical disabilities. In Jesus’s day he would have described these precious souls as the widows and orphans, and they are people Jesus had such a heart for during his time on Earth. People he loved, helped and hung out with.

Following in Jesus' footsteps...

CFL follows in Jesus' footsteps as we seek to emulate our Savior and to provide a place and a family where people can belong, where God given gifts and talents can be nurtured, and where folk can find real hope for the future. We do this by providing two supported living homes, a community based housing support team, as well as ten daytime therapeutic and work experience based daytime activities' at our farm base, helping those on the fringes, who have often suffered so greatly to achieve more stability in all areas of their lives....

Since 1987 when the charity was formed, more than 5,000 people have been rescued, scores of deeply damaged people have found real peace and joy in Christ, and all have known the love of Jesus shared with them in the most tangible of ways. But the needs are growing, and there and so many more struggling people in Leeds who need our help…. which is why I am aiming to attempt this challenge…. and to raise much needed funds for the ongoing work of the charity.

An epic challenge...

I have done a bit of long-distance cycling in the past but not for many years. But in June, I will be attempting to cycle 340 miles in 4 days between London and Paris, as part of an organised charity ride, joining with a group of other cyclists fundraising for lots of different charities. It is going to be a really tough challenge, with some very long days in the saddle including an epic day where we’ll be cycling over 100 miles! A distance I've never tackled. But I'm sure it will be worth it when God willing the Eiffel Tower comes into view on Saturday 8th June!

340 MILES / 4 DAYS / 1 FERRY CROSSING / 2 CAPITAL CITIES / 2 TIRED LEGS / 1 SORE BOTTOM / 1 TRULY AMAZING CHARITY!!

Would you consider sponsoring me, and more importantly standing with Caring For Life and the men and women that God has entrusted to our care.

*** NB: I am self funding my place on this trip, so 100% of your giving will support Caring For Life. ***
