Story

So I done a thing… I’m excited and crapping my pants at the same time 🙈

I signed up in November to participate in a UWCB charity boxing night on the 29th March 😎

I’m on a journey back to being me and using this to do it! Official training starts on 5th February twice a week but I’ve already been training most days for about a month now. 💪

Tickets go on sale 29th January and I really need at least 10 sold to guarantee a spot on the fight night.

I’ve also to raise money for a charity of my choice. Those that know me would automatically think I would choose an Autism based charity due to my youngest Ellie being autistic. 🌈🧩🌈🧩🌈

But saying that I can already hear in my head my oldest daughter, Grace, saying, “but Ellie always gets everything!”

So this always ended up with a conversation of having to explain that Ellie doesn’t have friends that come round looking for her to come out and play. Ellie doesn’t get invites to birthday parties. And that it was easier to do things that Ellie liked to avoid potential meltdowns and making a day out difficult to handle. 😔

And so my charity of choice is a Perthshire group called PKAVS which organised events, activities and days out for children like Grace. They give children like her the opportunity to take a day off from caring for a sibling with additional needs. Being a young career is a huge weight that has landed on their shoulders in more ways than one and a weight, that they do not realise, they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives.

So this isn’t just for my daughters Grace and Ellie, this is for all the young children who carry more than their fair share and miss out on so much because it’s easier to cater for the additional needs child instead.

The target the event asks me to try and raise is a minimum of £50 but I hope to raise much more! So I kindly ask if you can spare any donation please do and help children like my daughter who become young carers have the chance of even just a little respite.

The last time I attended with others from the town, to watch some friends take part, nearly £25000 was raised for charity!!!💪🥊
