12 Hours. One Goal. Making a Difference for Chiari Malformation.

Hi everyone,

On the 4th of July, I am taking on a brutal physical challenge to support a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.

Starting at 6:00 AM, I will be running a 5K every hour, on the hour, for 12 consecutive hours through Randalstown. To push the limits even further, I will be completing all 60 kilometers while wearing a 10KG weighted vest.

This "Backyard Ultra" style challenge is going to test me physically and mentally, but every single ounce of discomfort across those 12 hours is nothing compared to what the inspiration behind this run faces daily.

Why I am running: My Niece's Journey

This challenge is deeply personal. My beautiful niece lives with Chiari Malformation, a condition where brain tissue extends into the spinal canal.

Seeing the daily challenges, pain, and uncertainty that she and our family face has been both heartbreaking and inspiring. It has given me a firsthand look at how devastating neurological conditions can be, but also how much resilience it takes to navigate them.

I wanted to take on a challenge that required that same kind of relentless strength. I am running to show her she isn't in this alone, and to raise vital funds for others affected by these conditions.

All funds raised from this challenge will go directly to the Ann Conroy Trust.

They are an incredible charity dedicated to providing support, education, and funding crucial research into Syringomyelia and Chiari Malformation. They offer a lifeline to patients and families who are navigating these complex conditions, helping them find answers, community, and hope.
