Story
I’m running the Big Half marathon in September, raising money for Pilgrims Hospice on behalf of a dear old mate, Rupert Hill. Pilgrims Hospice look after people with incurable diseases helping them live well in every moment.
They looked after Rupert in his final days with care, grace, dedication and expertise. I could ramble on about Rupert for hours but I’ll try and keep this brief; he was a teacher, cricket coach, confidant and most importantly a great mate and family man.
This fundraising endeavour hopefully goes someway to supporting a charity that gave a great bloke space to live in his final days.
At its heart, Pilgrims is dedicated to providing skilled and compassionate care, free of charge, to people living with an incurable illness in east Kent. Their vision is that people with a life-limiting illness are supported and empowered to live well in mind & body, making the most of the time they have. They care for over 2,500 patients a year, at their 3 inpatient units in Canterbury, Thanet & Ashford, their therapy centres, or in patients’ own homes.
