Michael's fundraiser for Endometriosis UK

Michael Whitberry is raising money for Endometriosis UK

Streams/Awareness/Running

Over 1.5 million in the UK have endometriosis and the impact of the disease is for some devastating, yet diagnosis takes on average 8 years. With your donations we are turning this around, raising awareness, providing support and information, supporting research, and campaigning for change.

Story

I’ve always believed that communities are built on looking out for one another. Over the years, many wonderful people in our community have quietly shared that they live with endometriosis - a condition that causes immense pain, exhaustion, and daily challenges that often go unseen by the wider world.

Raising money for Endometriosis UK is our way of standing beside them. It’s about awareness, support, and making sure the people in our community who battle this condition know they are not alone.

Gaming communities can be powerful places for good. If we can bring people together for a laugh, a stream, or a cup of tea… we can certainly come together to support those facing something far tougher.

Over the coming weeks Myself, LovelyJenGamingUK and Bearded Hammer will be streaming with a focus of raising awareness and money for the charity. Blue Mountain (Warren) will be organising activities in his community to support the charity. However, this was all brought to light as a colleague of Warrens is actually running a marathon in aid of the charity.

Here is her story:

Hi, I’m Kayleigh (Kayls)

I’m running the Manchester Marathon to prove that living with a chronic illness does not define or limit what we can achieve.

I have Stage 4 Endometriosis, and I live with chronic pain every single day. For 20 years I was misdiagnosed, which led to multiple hospital stays and the need to rely on pain medication daily. Sadly, due to the severity of my condition, I am now no longer able to carry a child.

Despite this, I’m determined not to let endometriosis take away the things I love.

Running has always been my passion, along with hiking and cycling. Staying active is incredibly important to me, although my illness often makes it difficult. During severe flare-ups, it’s not uncommon for me to be completely bed-bound for days at a time. Because of this, I’ve had to adapt and revise my marathon training around my condition.

But I refuse to give up.

Taking on the Manchester Marathon is my way of showing that even with a chronic illness, we are stronger than we think. Every mile I run will be for the millions of people living with endometriosis who face daily battles that many people don’t see.

I’m raising money for Endometriosis UK to help fund vital support, education, and awareness so that others hopefully won’t have to wait as long as I did for answers.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world to me and will help support an incredible cause.

Thank you so much for your support and for helping me raise awareness for endometriosis. 💛
