Story
I'm running the London Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 8th October 2023 to fundraise in the memory of Jo Cox and the Jo Cox's Foundation vital work.
Jo Cox was a passionate campaigner, activist and humanitarian; a proud Yorkshire lass and internationalist; and a devoted mum, daughter, sister, wife, friend and MP.
Inspired by Jo, in 2016 her family and friends set up The Jo Cox Foundation. The charity channels the energy and determination generated by Jo’s life and tragic death into practical efforts to make meaningful change on issues that Jo was passionate about. Like Jo, the Foundation believes that a kinder, fairer and more connected world is possible.
The Jo Cox Foundation works in three areas to create:
1. Stronger communities: Through their local work to combat loneliness in West Yorkshire and three national programmes: the Great Get Together, More In Common Network, and Connection Coalition.
2. Respectful politics: Ending the abuse and intimation that discourages so many from entering political life, and particularly impacts diverse representation through campaigning, the Jo Cox Civility Commission and the Civility Pledge.
3. Fairer world: Responding to complex global problems through humanitarian approaches, including offering £10 million of funding through Jo Cox Memorial Grants and campaigning as a member of the Atrocity Prevention Working Group.
