Story

Update!

I crashed at 15k and with a lot of support from passers by and medics I was able to complete the race (there was a lovely runner, Nicola from Woodstock Harriers, who helped me finish the last 6k)

thanks to everyone who supported me but I'll leave this page open to anyone reading this who would like to donate who hasn't already!

Having seen first-hand, within my own extended family, the devastating impact of losing a parent while children are still young — not only on the children, but also on the surviving parent and grandparents — I know how deep and lasting that grief can be, and the added pressures it brings.

That’s why I was drawn to the incredible work of SeeSaw, a charity supporting bereaved children and their families in Oxfordshire. Last year, I ran my very first half marathon in Oxford for them. Wearing my SeeSaw shirt on several running events since, I am often stopped by people who shared how much the charity had helped them — which was both moving and motivating.

Through our opera company, Opera Anywhere, we’ve also had the privilege of working alongside SeeSaw to deliver the Sunningwell Festival — a special year when both our organisations celebrated 25 years in Oxfordshire!

This year, I’m lacing up my running shoes again, aiming to beat my 2024 time and cross the finish line in around 1 hour 50 minutes. Every donation will not only spur me on but will also help SeeSaw continue their life-changing work for local families when they need it most.

Please donate if you can — every pound truly makes a difference.

SeeSaw provides a grief support service for children, young people and their families anywhere in Oxfordshire, whether the death is sudden or expected, due to illness or accident, or for some other reason. With appropriate and timely support, bereaved young people will be able to face the future with hope and fulfil their potential despite a devastating loss.

As a small charity SeeSaw relies on the support of generous individuals, families, community groups, businesses and schools to fund our services. Thank you for your support.
