Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am putting my running shoes to one side and pulling on my hiking boots to join a group of 8 local friends to take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in September. The challenge is organised by Tiny Tickers, a charity close to our group that helps babies born with heart defects.
I thought that since I was about to take on 3 Peaks why not raise money for 3 charities? My 3 for 3 idea was born! Here is how it works:
I will match the donations received on this JustGiving page by donating an equal amount to two other charities close to my heart. So if you can help me reach my £2,500 target, I will donate £2,500 to each of the other charities.
The Felsted School Mission
This page is dedicated to The Felsted School Mission, a charity that I have known for many decades and one that I have Chaired for the past 5 years. It provides funding to help the most vulnerable in the Customs House area of London, an area where life can be a real challenge. Support manifests itself in many ways, including a food bank, advice service, a night shelter in the winter, community support for children and the elderly, provision for those with complex needs, all wrapped up with care from dedicated people working in a safe space. When life is hard and dangerous, a safe space is a God send.
Tiny Tickers
Our group of very unlikely hikers came together to support Tiny Tickers. Did I say that I am the only male in this group? Did I miss a memo? This charity strives to help babies born with heart defects- one is born every 2 hours in the UK, and one of them is now a very happy chap known to us in our village of Gestingthorpe. It is a delight to see him in full flight, and we would like nothing more for him and others with the same condition to thrive! You can read more about the charity here: https://www.tinytickers.org
Ty Hafen
The third charity is close to me because it is close to my company’s HQ (Raplas Technologies) in Sully in South Wales. We at Raplas have been supporting the work of this children’s hospice ever since a visit several years ago. The visit was an emotional window into a world where parents and families are trying their best to deal with the short life available to a child. The support from Ty Hafen in such tragic circumstances is truly remarkable. Read more here: https://www.tyhafan.org
