Climbing Out runs 5 day outdoor activity programmes that help rebuild the confidence and self belief in people who have been through a life changing injury, illness or trauma

Story

Thank you for visiting my Justgiving page πŸ’šπŸ’›

This year my aim is to fundraise, as well as raise awareness of a small charity, with a big heart called Climbing Out!

Last year was a dark period for me, following an RTC whilst at work which resulted in an injured hip and 6 months off, followed by a return to work to a traumatic job, break up of a relationship and complete loss of self confidence, which all took me to a very dark place. I was referred to Climbing Out through the health and well-being team at work πŸ’šπŸ’›

Climbing Out helps individuals who have gone through a life-changing event, such as trauma, injury or illness and aims to rebuild confidence, self-esteem and motivation to help them move forward with their lives. This is done by providing fully funded 5-day programmes which combines outdoor activities with mental resilience coaching, enabling participants to accept what has happened in the past and start to make a new way forward.

It’s all about not saying β€˜I can’t’…but rather saying β€˜how can I?’

I was extremely fortunate to be accepted for a programme last August, the week transformed me and my mindset, as I was able to start focusing on how I could do the things I wanted too with my injury. And without them I would not have had the confidence to go onto university to begin my Paramedic Science degree, which I am now really enjoying!

Since I have participated in their annual fundraising hike which was 21km along Hadrians wall, become an ambassador for the charity, as well as been lucky enough to be selected to take part in a canoeing expedition in Sweden this September!

I have recently been given a diagnosis of a significant labral tear and cartilage damage within my hip, as well as lower lumbar spinal compression - treatment thus far is up in the air, however surgery looks likely following steroid injections. So, I really want to raise as much money as I can prior to surgery, for such an amazing charity which has given me so much and continues to support me throughout my journey!

Plans thus far are:

β›°οΈπŸŒΏ Conquering Snowdon (both up and down) in June with my amazing sister!

πŸ›ΆπŸžοΈ Partaking in the Sweden Canoeing Expedition to raise awareness for the charity as well as continue my own development.

πŸ”οΈπŸ”οΈπŸ”οΈ Complete this years fundraising hike which is the 10 peaks in the Lake District at the end of September.

πŸ’šπŸ’›βœ‚οΈ Through the sale of my little Climbing Out Crochet Buddies!! (More to come on these this weekend!)

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, any donations to this wonderful charity are gratefully appreciated.

Wish me luck! 🀟🏻
