London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·

We help Sheffield’s hospitals, community teams and health and social care services to cover costs their NHS budgets can’t. We fund support for patients and staff, life-changing research and more, so that we can enhance care from birth to the end of life and everything in between.

Story

Hi, my name is Michael Nicholson and I have run the TCS London Marathon 2024 for the very first time on 21st April and also running The Great North Run on the 8th September.

My incentive for this challenge is to support the Sheffield Hospitals Charity, Haematology Appeal. This is a very personal cause, as my mother-in-law Carole has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a crippling incurable rare cancer that attacks your bone marrow and weakens the bones. Carole has already suffered from multiple fractures causing significant pain and changing her life forever. However, she remains strong and positive, as she begins her long journey forward of Stem Cell Transplant Treatment, Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy.

The staff have been absolutely amazing at Sheffield Royal Hallamshire Hospital, providing Carole with the care and support needed during this very difficult time. However, funds are required to maintain and improve the Haematology department and continue the important research taking place to prevent this awful disease.

Please can you join me by making a difference for this very important cause.
