Michael's fundraiser for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably)

Michael Robinson is raising money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably)

Sober October

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

This October I’ll be swapping pints for pints of water, and wine for… well, probably more water. That’s right — I’m taking on Sober October and giving up alcohol for the whole month (AGAIN)

Why? Because like many men, I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression, and I know how tough it can feel when your mind is working against you. Last year I raised money for prostate cancer, and this year I wanted to support another cause close to my heart — mental health.

That’s why I’ve chosen to fundraise for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

CALM is a UK charity leading the fight against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45.

They run a free, confidential helpline and webchat every single day, 365 days a year, for anyone struggling. They spread awareness, challenge stigma, and provide support for people going through anxiety, depression, or at a time of crisis.

Every pound raised goes directly to keeping CALM’s life-saving services running. Just £8 can fund one potentially life-saving call to CALM’s helpline. Your support means more people get the chance to talk, to feel heard, and to find hope.

So please dig deep (not just into the fridge for my leftover beers) and support me in staying alcohol-free for the month. Every donation, big or small, will help CALM to help others.

Thanks so much for your support — I’ll raise a glass of water to you all at the end of October!
