Ride Across Britain 2024 - Michael Stone

Ride Across Britain 2024 · 7 September 2024 to 15 September 2024 ·
Dear Parents, Friends and Family
The time has come to announce that in September I will be participating in the Ride Across Britain 2024, a cycling event that takes me nearly 1000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats.
I will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Sadly, we all know someone close who has been affected by cancer; at Our Lady's Prep School and Nursery and in our personal lives. As a result, I hope to raise £5,000 for Macmillan who continue to provide invaluable support to individuals and families affected by cancer, offering guidance, comfort, and hope during their most difficult times.
The event is a 9-day challenge, starting at Land’s End and finishing at John O’Groats. Each and every day I will ride over 100miles (160km) in around 8-10 hours. The entire event is just under 1000 miles in length, with over 50,000ft of climbing (nearly twice the height of Mt. Everest!). I will be alongside 700 other cyclists who will cycle the length of Great Britain.
I have a 16kg bag with all my supplies which will be transported from campsite to campsite. Each night I will sleep in a two-person tent and each and every morning we wake at 5am to prepare for the day’s 10-hour cycling adventure.
The event starts on Friday 6 September and finishes on the evening of Sunday 15 September. I am grateful that the Trustees of Our Lady's Prep School and Nursery have given me permission, as Headmaster, to participate. We are hopeful that there will be many opportunities in School and Nursery to track my progress and learn whilst I am on route to John O’Groats.
I invite you to join me on this journey by making a donation and ensuring that others do too! This is an extreme challenge! .
Thank you for your support and belief in this cause.
Michael
