Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
If there’s ever a good time to raise money for a seafarers’ charity, it’s now. With 20,000 seafarers stuck west of the Strait of Hormuz in terrifying circumstances the work that charities like Stella Maris do to support our community at sea has never been more important.
Half of my immediate family were stuck in Australia for several weeks and delayed from returning home because of the war. The anxiety I felt being so far away from my loved ones at this time of turmoil was nothing compared to those who have their husbands, sons and fathers in the Middle East, at anchor working on ships, knowing they are sitting targets for indiscriminate attacks in a war they have no part in.
Rather than post a 'running' type photo I've got one of me with my parents as I said goodbye to them at Adelaide airport in mid-March. During these tumultuous times we are reminded of what's important, and I can think of nothing worse than being stuck at sea away from your loved ones.

So, this is a long way around of saying I’m running 10km at the Southampton event on May 3 and raising money for Stella Maris. I’m joining a group of maritime professionals, many of them proper runners (unlike me) and hope that you will consider donating even a small amount to my fundraising page.
I’m struggling with motivation as I’m tired but at least I’m safe and raising money for such an important cause and this will hopefully drag me away from my lethargy and procrastination to hit the road for at least a couple of miles daily.
In times of war, seafarers shouldn’t be forgotten and the support they find from Stella Maris has never been more important.
