Story
Alzheimer's Disease is the most common cause of dementia. It is a progressive, irreversible neurological disorder that destroys memory, thinking skills and eventually the ability to perform daily tasks.
It's a devastating disease and I've seen first hand the impact it can have on families. My Gran was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2021 and lived with the disease until she died in 2024. My partner's Dad required years of nursing home care due to dementia until his death earlier this year.
The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide support to those affected by dementia and their families. They tirelessly campaign to make dementia the priority it should be and fund ground-breaking research to find new treatments for dementia. Ultimately they are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
On 16th May 2026 my partner and I will be trekking 26 miles around the hills and cliffs of Malham in North Yorkshire to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society. Whilst I love walking, I've never walked as far in a single day and I'm expecting it to be pretty tough! It would be absolutely brilliant if you could support me on this journey and together we can raise much needed funds to help beat dementia.
Thank you x
