Since my Nanna died in 2020 I do a yearly walking challenge during her birthday month, raising money for various charities. My Nanna was such a beautiful, caring woman who brought immense joy to the world. Nanna would have been 99 in June 2026, and I will walk a minimum of 99 miles in that month in her memory.

This years walking challenge is for a cause very close to my heart. I want to raise as much money as possible for Bright Northumbria, the charity of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, with a focus on Ward 5 palliative care at North Tyneside General Hospital. My beautiful, darling friend Kathryn sadly died on 1st January 2026. Bright Northumbria and the staff at Ward 5 went above and beyond to bring her and her family joy and comfort when they needed them.

Bright Northumbria charity funds better facilities for patients and their families, and support for their incredible staff - allowing them to provide the best of care. It is only through the kindness, generosity and hard work of supporters raising vital funds that they are able to do more and more each year.
