Michelle 's fundraiser for The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation

Michelle Elliott is raising money for The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation
In memory of My Grandad Ken Bird

March of the Day 3 · 4 June 2026

Former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers footballer Stephen Darby and close friend and British Forces Veteran Chris Rimmer have partnered together to launch the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Stephen and Chris both have Motor Neurone Disease and have created a Foundation to create awareness of MND, to fund and assist research into the illness with the quest of finding a cure for the illness, to raise funds and offer grants to those with MND, as well as creating a network to help provide information and emotional support network for those diagnosed with the disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 4th June I will be leaving Stockport County at 8.30am, visiting 23 football/rugby grounds before arriving at The Rob Burrows Centre in Leeds on the 6th June at 6.45pm, walking over 160 miles.

I will be a part of the core team, walking day and night to raise awareness and vital funds for this deadly disease. On the 6th June, Megan will be joining me and walking the final 20+ miles from Castleford Tigers to The Rob Burrows Centre.

In January 2008, my Grandad sadly lost his battle to MND and it shattered us as a family. Since then there has been a lot more awareness, research and fundraising done, but sadly its not enough and we still don't have a cure. Since then Stephen Darby, Bradford City Captain and Legend has been diagnosed with MND. The bravest of people, who despite his battles with MND, continues to be a big part of Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

Every £1 raised makes a difference in our fight for MND. It is raising awareness, its helping researchers to find better treatment and ultimately eventually find a cure. Any sponsorship is appreciated by not only me, but every single family living with MND.

From the bottom of my heart. Thank you xx
