Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page. We are very grateful for this opportunity to celebrate the memory of an incredible man, Richie Evans, by raising money for Tech She Can. All the money raised will be generously match-funded by Allwyn, the National Lottery operator.
The fundraiser walk will take place on Sunday 15th September in Kensington, London. Together with family, friends and colleagues, we’ll take a tour of Kensington for approximately 10 miles.
Richie was a people person, and had a wonderful way of making everyone feel valued and welcome. His warm and genuine interest in others made him a much loved family member, friend, mentor and colleague. He had a way of connecting with people that felt real and uplifting, with a smile and personality that could light up a room.
He was passionate about technology, and loved exploring the latest innovations and sharing new ideas. Richie had a brilliant career at the lottery operator Camelot (now Allwyn) and really enjoyed being part of a community that encouraged innovation. He also loved that his work had a positive impact on people’s lives.
A future thinker, Richie believed that the UK could be a global tech leader if more children were exposed to the possibilities of tech at a young age. Our fundraiser is to raise money for Tech She Can, a charity with a mission to help grow tech literacy in children, particularly girls, so they can see what a career in technology could look like.
Our fundraiser walk will take us through Kensington, to the places that were very special to Richie. He grew up in the area, attending the Lycee Francais where he formed beautiful lifelong friendships, and played in Hyde Park as a boy and young man. As an adult, he loved picnicking with friends in the park, enjoying the simple pleasures of good food, great company and the warmth of being with people he loved. He enjoyed celebrating everyday moments, and had a talent for making them feel really special.
Along with technology, another great passion in Richie’s life was music and he went to countless concerts in Hyde Park and beyond. Music brought him so much joy, creativity and self expression which he loved sharing. He regularly recommended new discoveries to us all, and played in bands with both friends and work colleagues.
This walk will be an amazing tribute to a gorgeous, brilliant man who we miss beyond measure. We hope that by supporting this fantastic charity, the spirit of Richie will help inspire a new young generation of techies, opening up new horizons for them and the world of technology.
Thank you for being here, and for your generosity. It means so much to us.
