Michelle's London Marathon 2025 for Cure Parkinson’s

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
Thanks to everyone who has supported me so far - not long now!
For those who don't know, I'm running the 2025 London Marathon for Cure Parkinson's and would love your support to help me through the rest of the training (so much training!) and the big day.
I have been so inspired by the Cure Parkinson's charity since I became involved with them last year.
A lot of you will know that my dad, Dave, has been poorly for the last 18 months. After suffering some pretty severe mental health problems towards the end of 2023, Dad developed physical symptoms, including a tremor, leading to a (what turned out to be incorrect) diagnosis in June 2024 of Parkinson's.
We are so grateful to have had an update on this condition after a brain scan - he was (quite shockingly) mis-diagnosed, and was then re-diagnosed as having drug-induced Parkinsonism, brought on by medication he received after his breakdown.
Dad's mis-diagnosis was devastating and certainly hasn't helped his mental health, but I do feel like we are lucky ones as his tremor and other symptoms should remain static or reverse.
The whole experience has been enlightening when it comes to this awful condition. There is not nearly enough awareness around Parkinson's, diagnosis is difficult and there is a severe lack of neurology appointments (some people have to wait years for one). It is also a growing condition and it effects so many more people than I knew.
And of course, there is no cure.
The amazing charity Cure Parkinson's is here for the cure and I am 100% here for that. I can't do much to help, but I can run. And by running really really far (did I mention there is so much training?), I hope I can raise some vital funds to help there to be a cure for this awful condition.
