Thank you for visiting my just giving page, last December a very dear neighbour lost his life to a heart attack, he was fit and healthy, so this was a complete shock to his wife, they had been together since she was a 16 and his two adult children, as well and extended family and friends.

I have watched his wife battling on with life without her righthand man with great strength, for which I have complete admiration, therefore I had to come up with a challenge to raise money for the British Heart Foundation that would really challenge me, I have found that challenge at the age of 57 in a Tri-Athlon, firstly I don’t really like crowds but once cycling, running I find my own space, swimming is not my strong point at all, I can swim, head out of water and as long as no one comes close to me to drown me I can plod along knowing I can reach the side, which of course I won’t have with open water swimming. I will be swimming 750m then my best bit cycling 20km and finally running 5km on which I am sure will be dead legs. As long as I complete this in one piece I will be happy.

Since I have decided on this challenge a colleague has had a second heart attack, he was in a really good place with his heart, with a stent in place, with all recent tests being clear. Thankfully he knew the signs and called the ambulance, he has just had another stent put in, this shows how much research is helping people to survive heart attacks.
