Story

Dare2Dip…EVERY DAY throughout October!

I’m going to be dipping in cold water every day in October as part of the CancerCare challenge to raise both funds and awareness of the vital work they do! Although I already enjoy a wild swim, I’m not one of the cold water “addicts” and have certain criteria for getting in, the main one being sunshine!!  To go from an occasional sunny dip to every day (where the chance of sunshine is probably pretty slim) is massively out of my comfort zone, but I’m buzzing to give it a go for this amazing charity.  CancerCare have been improving the lives of cancer patients and their families through Cumbria and North Lancashire for the past 40 years, providing vital support through counselling, advice and complementary therapies. I first became aware of them in the early 2000s when my auntie received amazing support during her breast cancer journey. Over the past few years several friends have received a diagnosis and this vital support has been invaluable to them.

This year marks CancerCares 40th Anniversary. Over the last four decades, we have helped tens of thousands of people find the strength to face the future after the devastation of a cancer diagnosis or death of a loved one. It costs nearly £2m each year to provide free professional therapy to local people and more than 90% of this comes from public donations. People never know when they may need us and its our aim to ensure we are always there when they do.

Thank you so much for supporting this challenge!
