Story
In May this year, I’ll be setting off on a long-distance walk across northern Spain: the Camino Primitivo.
Over 16 days, I’ll be walking approximately 320 kilometres, one step at a time, in memory of my son Oliver, who died in February 2024.

Like so many parents who lose a child, my world changed forever and learning how to live alongside that loss, has been the hardest journey of my life.
This walk is many things. It’s a challenge, a pilgrimage, and a space to think, grieve, remember and keep going. Oliver and I had so many adventures together, travelling and seeing other countries. We loved exploring new places, meeting local people and getting to know the history of our location. Oliver was the best travel companion.

I know Oliver will be with me for every kilometre, bringing his energy, cheeky humour, constant chat and unwavering support of his Mum.

I’m raising money for The Compassionate Friends, a charity that supports families after the loss of a child. They understand this kind of loss in a way few others can, because they are parents too. Their support helps people feel less alone at a time when the world can feel unbearably isolating. I have attended a number of their events and would love to use my challenge to raise funds to help them continue to make a difference and enable them to train their 250 volunteers.
If you’re able to donate, you’ll be helping ensure that other bereaved parents and families receive understanding, compassion, and support when they need it most.
If you can’t donate, sharing this page or simply holding Oliver in your thoughts means more than you know.
Thank you for walking this journey with me, in whatever way you can.
