Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Hi, I'm Michelle and as you know I like a challenge but I thought I should explain why I am doing this (and other activities in 2025)

In the last 3 months of 2023 we received devastating news about two friends.

Both had very suddenly and unexpectedly died and well before their time, Diana was 60 and Rob had just turned 50.

Both were the best of people with big hearts, too big as they both passed from heart failure.

Also in 2024 we also had the devastating diagnosis for my lovely mum, the person I could talk to and share anything with, of mixed Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. Although it wasn't a shock as she has been slowly slipping away for a while it has been difficult to process, but we take one day at a time and enjoy the present and time together.

So, I wanted to raise funds to help those that help us so all money raised will be split equally between the two charities.

Any orgiansied events I do will be self funded (other than the Thames Bridge Walk which is mixed funding where I have a mimum fundrasign target) so the charities will get evey penny of the donations.

I am goign to be doing an 'Ironman' but split over weekends mainly in Spring (as I am too old and injured to be able to do it in one go!).

I am kicking it off with the 10k winter run in London on23rd February 2025!

The swimming will be mainly open water, when the temperature is warm enough to be more than a 10 minute dip, as although I enjoy this is I am very slow!

The cycling is the bit I am dreading as my bike is 'petite' size and gets used once every 4 years...I am slower than slow and don't enjoy it....its a huge challenge as the most I have cycled is 8 miles, or around centerparcs!

After this I also have other events lined up like a 1m swim in the Serpentine in September, a 25k Ultra Challenge walk which is the Thames Bridge trek, across 16 bridges in London.

However much of a challenge these are and how saddle-sore I get or blistered I get, I am here and will enjoy them overall, and they seem appropriate

Mum always encouraged me in so many things even if she thought I was daft, Diana was to blame(in a good way) for me getting to do the London Marathon a very long time ago in 2010, and Rob liked a bit of adventure ( the picture on the Zipwire and at Snowdons peak!)

I will do regular updates on how the training and events are going, and hope you can help me support these 2 fantastic charities.

Thank you so much for reading this and helping me too

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
