Story
In 2027, I will be stepping into my third year of taking on the Incredible Hike—a journey that has become far more meaningful than I ever imagined when I first set out to mark my 50th birthday.
What began in 2025 as a personal challenge—a three-day trek along the stunning North Devon Coast Path—quickly became something much bigger. That first hike pushed me beyond my comfort zone in every possible way. It was tough, emotional, and at times overwhelming, but it was also deeply inspiring.
In 2026, I took on the challenge again, remembering vividly the experience of trekking from Westward Ho to Tintagel. I faced moments where I truly didn’t think I could go any further, but the friendships formed along the way and the shared sense of purpose carried me through. Each step reminded me why I had started: to give back to a charity that means so much to me.
Now, in my third year, this journey feels like a part of who I am.
For over a decade, I’ve had the privilege of working at Little Bridge House, the children’s hospice here in North Devon. Every single day, I see the difference we make—the comfort we bring, the support we provide, and the moments of joy we help create, even in the most difficult circumstances. I see the relief in a parent’s eyes, the courage of the children and young people we care for, and the strength of families facing unimaginable challenges.
Those moments stay with you. They shape you. And they are the reason I continue to take on this challenge year after year.
This hike is no longer just about personal achievement—it’s about standing alongside the families we support and doing whatever I can to ensure we can continue to be there for them.
If you’re able to support me, it would mean the world. Every donation, no matter how small, helps Children’s Hospice South West continue its incredible work—providing care, comfort, and compassion when it is needed most.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me, not just this year, but over the past three years.
