I’m very happy (and equally as scared!) to say that on the 12th July, I am taking part in abseiling off the new build acute services and maternity ward block at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, along with other brave individuals to help raise funds for the Trust’s charity.

Anyone who knows me will be aware I am terrified of heights (I am the I-will-sit-down-and-you-will-have-to-push-me kind of zipliner at Go Ape. I know. I’m sorry). Not everyone knows though that both of my precious daughters were born in L&D Hospital, and not without issues with our eldest Isabella being a c-section baby because of placenta previa, and our youngest Zara a post-mature VBAC baby who made mummy eat all the pineapples and chilli in Luton just to coax her out.

I am also proudly supporting the Trust as the AECOM lead in the cost management of the construction of the new hospital block - aside from the obvious fulfilment and genuine pleasure in working with the Trust and the rest of the New Clinical Buildings project team, I am personally grateful to be part of a team which will provide new, excellent maternity spaces and facilities to the staff who helped deliver my own babies 12 & 16 years ago, and to the next ladies who will benefit from the care and support of L&D Hospital staff.

Please help me raise much needed funds for The Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Charity, so they can continue to help mums, new babies and their families. Thank you again for visiting this page, and for hopefully helping me smash the target donation for this wonderful charity!
