The Nasio Trust is a UK registered charity and Kenyan NGO which supports orphaned and vulnerable children and empowers communities to break the cycle of poverty. Established over 20 years ago, our community-based approach is aimed at providing a holistic solution to tackling the root causes of poverty through education, healthcare, psychosocial support, food security and income generation. Our Philosophy. We believe children should not grow up in institutions like orphanages, where they are isolated from society because of poverty, sickness, disease or death of parents. Children should live in a loving family with dignity without being stigmatised by the cause of their vulnerability.

Story

In February 2025, I will be embarking on a monumental journey to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, also known as the “roof of Africa” and one of the world’s Seven Summits, standing at 5,895m!

This will mark my first climb to extreme altitude, and the anticipation of the unknown fills me with both jitters and excitement. While physical fitness is crucial for the ascent, the unpredictability of high altitude makes this a challenge for everyone. The 7-day climb will involve multiple days of climbing high and sleeping low, culminating in the final push on Summit Night.

The mental strength and resilience required for this trek will undoubtedly be the greatest challenge. Maintaining positivity during tough moments will be paramount.

Reaching the summit will be an extraordinary achievement, but what follows holds even greater significance to me. Following the climb, I will dedicate 3 days to volunteering with THE NASIO TRUST, where 100% of profits from my climb will directly support communities in Africa, breaking the cycle of poverty. This experience will allow me to witness firsthand the incredible impact that my climb has helped to facilitate.

I will be so grateful for any support on my journey.
