Story

St. Luke’s Hospice holds a very special place in my heart because of the incredible care they provided for my Nan in her final days. Though she passed away 23 years ago, the kindness, compassion, and support she received from the hospice staff meant the world to me and my family.

My Nan was truly one of a kind—kind, selfless, and full of life. She made every day fun! Some of my best childhood memories were spent at her caravan, where laughter was constant and love was endless. She was always out at her clubs—whether it was bowls, cricket, or her social group—spreading joy wherever she went, and she loved her holidays on the canal boats and of course country western! Everyone knew and loved her, and her infectious laugh could light up any room.

Knowing that she was cared for with such compassion brought us great comfort, and that’s why I’m so passionate about giving back.

Two years ago, I was fortunate enough to secure a place in the London Marathon with St Luke’s hospice and raised over £2,200 for St. Luke’s Hospice. This year, I was incredibly lucky to get a ballot spot, and without hesitation, I chose to run in support of St. Luke’s once again. So far I’ve raised £3,000 and my target is £5,000!

Every step I take will be in honor of my Nan and to help ensure other families receive the same incredible care and support that mine did. I know that she will be looking down on me and be so proud!
