A few years ago I noticed a line of people forming outside my kids school on late Friday afternoons. I found out that in the church across the street, an amazing organisation called RESTART LIVES, feeds over 100 homeless adults every week, many who we pass every day in the neighbourhood. I dropped in one Friday expecting the stigma of homelessness- people who were unclean, uneducated and addicted. I was completely wrong. These are people who for one reason or another have lost their way and are trying to get back on track, thanks to places like RESTART. I was blown away by how friendly, articulate, well read, well groomed, kind and gracious every single person I spoke with was. I have tried to go every Friday since then to spend a few hours with these people, just chatting and serving them a hot meal. It has really become a highlight of my week.

Restart works on a very small budget and has a huge impact. Not only are they proving meals but counselling services to get these people housed and off the streets, educational seminars to help them develop work skill, health and wellness services and much more.

This is a charity that has become very important to my whole family. On Friday 1 December 2023, Pete be sleeping outside on the streets of London to support RESTART LIVES
